Counselling in Skipton

Looking for a counsellor in Skipton can feel like a big step, particularly if you’re not completely sure what you need yet. I’m Rebecca Shore. I offer counselling in Skipton for people aged 16 and over — warm, down-to-earth, and without a script you have to follow.

You don’t have to have everything worked out before you come.

Why people come

A mind that won’t switch off. Confidence that has quietly slipped. The same patterns with a partner, a parent, or a friend. A change or a loss that has left you feeling unlike yourself. Sometimes life looks fine from the outside, and still feels too much.

You might also be a therapist in the making, or simply someone who knows something isn’t right and can’t name it yet. That’s a reasonable place to start. More on why people come to counselling.

What it’s like to work together

Sessions are 50 minutes. You choose what we talk about. I won’t judge you, and I won’t expect a list of therapy goals. We begin with what is happening in your life now.

I’m collaborative and straightforward. Mostly I’m listening. If a gentle challenge would help us notice something, I’ll offer it — only when it seems useful, and always with you rather than at you. If you’re nervous, we can start with a free 15-minute phone consultation. There is no pressure to decide on that call.

An integrative approach

I’m a BACP Registered Member, with an MSc in integrative counselling and psychotherapy. Integrative means I don’t use the same method with everyone. I draw on different ways of working and stay with what fits you. You don’t need to understand the theory first. There’s more on how I work.

The room in Skipton

My counselling room is on Newmarket Street in Skipton. I’ll send you the full address and directions before your first appointment.

The room is upstairs. If accessing an upstairs room would be difficult for you, I also offer online counselling across the UK. You’re welcome to get in touch to discuss what would work for you.

I also offer counselling in Keighley.

A counselling room with two teal armchairs, mustard and green cushions, a blue geometric rug, round side tables, lamps, a plant beside a window with a dark green blind, and framed pictures on the wall.

A few questions you might have

Where do sessions take place?

I work from a private, upstairs room on Newmarket Street in Skipton. I’ll send you the full address and directions before your first appointment. If accessing an upstairs room would be difficult, we can meet online instead.

Can we meet online?

Yes, I offer 50-minute online sessions for people across the UK. You’re welcome to choose online counselling if it feels more comfortable or fits better around your life.

What if I don’t know where to start?

You don’t need to know exactly what you want from counselling or have the right words. We can take our time and begin with whatever has brought you here.

If you’d like to talk
