How I work
Sessions aren’t hurried. You choose what we talk about, and I won’t push a topic you’re not ready for. Some days we stay with something difficult; other days we simply talk about whatever is there. Both are useful.
I work integratively — drawing on counselling and psychotherapy in a way that adapts to you, rather than following one fixed method. My practice is influenced by Transactional Analysis, attachment-informed thinking, and relational ways of working. Sometimes creative techniques help when words alone feel hard to reach. Sometimes a little psychoeducation makes a pattern clearer. There are also times when a gentle challenge helps us notice something that may no longer be serving you. None of this is used because it’s expected — only when it feels useful for the person sitting with me.
You don’t need to arrive with a clear plan. Plenty of people start with only a sense that something isn’t right. That’s enough. If the words come out unevenly, or take a while to find, that’s fine. Silence is fine too. What matters most to me is the relationship we build — grounded in curiosity and honesty. Mostly, I’m listening: trying to understand your experience as you live it.
Experience
Alongside private practice, I’ve worked in SEMH education and within mental health and addiction services, supporting young people and adults through a wide range of difficulties — sometimes quietly, sometimes in the middle of complicated lives.
That work taught me to stay calm when things feel messy, and to meet people from different backgrounds without assuming I already know their story.
Why I do this work
I’m interested in people and the stories they carry — how experience shapes the way we see ourselves, relate to others, and move through the world. I don’t believe anyone can be reduced to a diagnosis or a single problem.
For me, this work isn’t about fixing people. It’s about understanding someone as a whole person, noticing what may no longer help, and finding room for something different.
I believe many of us are trying to meet expectations that don’t always fit who we really are. Whether those expectations come from social media, work, family, or ourselves, they can leave us feeling disconnected and constantly questioning whether we’re enough. My aim isn’t to help you become someone different, but to create a space where you can better understand yourself and discover what feels authentic to you.
